"The Clubhouse” Offers Curling Fans a Hub in Downtown Victoria

The Hotel Grand Pacific’s lounge the place to be during 2013 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship

March 20, 2013; Victoria, B.C. – When curling fever hits Victoria at the end of the month, the Hotel Grand Pacific will find itself a second home to both local and visiting curling fans. A proud sponsor of the 2013 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship, March 30 – April 7, the hotel’s Pacific Lounge will be transformed into “The Clubhouse” offering big-screen coverage of draws, food and drink specials, and curling table games.

“We’re turning our lounge into The Clubhouse to give curling fans a place to gather in downtown Victoria,” says Hotel Grand Pacific General Manager, Reid James. “We have a lot of hotel guests in town for the championship, and along with local curling fans, we wanted to give them a place they could call home, watch the draws on the big screens, have a few drinks and have a bite to eat with other fans.”

Big-screens in The Clubhouse will show championship curling action on TSN, and guests can also challenge their own skills with the table-top Cool Shots curling game, which is sure to be a hit.  The lounge will also feature curling-themed food and drink specials throughout the event, including “The Pin” – a burger with a house-made beef patty, white cheddar, double-smoked bacon and an onion ring ($14); or a “Takeout” – sweet and spicy chicken wings with buttermilk blue cheese dipping sauce ($12). Drink specials include local brews such as bottles of Vancouver Islander Lager and Spyhopper Honey Brown for just $4.50, and pints of Vancouver Island Piper’s Pale Ale draft for $5.25.

The 2013 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship will take place March 30 – April 7 at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria, B.C. For more information, visit http://www.curling.ca/championships/worlds/.
