Hotel Grand Pacific Promises a Holiday Season Filled with Twinkles, Toasts and Teddy Bears

Victoria property offers seasonal highlights and holiday moments for locals and visitors alike

Victoria, B.C. – Always a special place to celebrate the holidays, the Hotel Grand Pacific is once again preparing to deck the halls and toast the season with lashings of festive cheer this year. Right on Victoria’s twinkling Inner Harbour, the hotel is the perfect place to ring in the holidays.

“Victoria is such a special place to spend time during the holiday season,” says Reid James, General Manager of the Hotel Grand Pacific. “Whether you’re a local or visiting from out of town, there’s definitely a little magic in the air. Meet up with friends over a Christmas cocktail, share a holiday meal with loved ones, or bring the kids in to see the decorations and the annual Bear Wear event – we’d love to be part of your holiday celebrations.”

The Pacific Restaurant’s much-loved Christmas Lunch Buffet is back – at just $28 per person, it’s perfect for a Christmas catch-up lunch with a friend, entertaining clients at the end of the year, or an indulgent meal before hitting Victoria’s shopping streets. This year’s spread includes both classics and modern twists - roasted turkey with double smoked bacon and apple dressing; roasted beet salad with arugula, frisée, goat cheese, ginger orange vinaigrette; pan-seared salmon in citrus cream broth; and desserts including warm Christmas pudding, chocolate mousse and mincemeat tarts. The buffet is available from December 10 through 21 inclusive, from 12:00pm – 2:00pm each weekday.

The Hotel Grand Pacific is proud to once again host the annual Bear Wear event, benefitting the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island. Running from November 19 through to January 3, 2013, a display of teddy bears dressed up in costumes will grace the hotel’s lobby, providing a family-friendly free event for all. Each bear is sponsored and dressed by a Victoria business or an individual donor; money raised is directed into programs at the Children’s Health Foundation to support children and youth in need and their families on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. More information about the event can be found at www.childrenshealthvi.org.

Those looking to add some additional Christmas cheer will love The Pacific Lounge’s range of custom holiday cocktails – just the thing to toast the season or bring in the New Year. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options are available, all specially created to capture the celebratory spirit.

As part of the ongoing Artishow Artist in Residence program, Vancouver-based artist Colleen Lumb will be in residence at the Hotel Grand Pacific through the month of December. Lumb, who is known for her use of “juicy” colour and texture in her pieces, will offer a number of ways for visitors, especially children, to get involved with the creation of art, while observing her at work on her Christmas paintings.

For out-of-towners looking to celebrate Christmas in Victoria, the hotel is also offering a deluxe three-night package which includes everything from a Christmas Eve welcome reception and group dinner, through to a brunch buffet and three-course dinner on Christmas Day, as well as a tour of the Christmas lights at Butchart Gardens on Boxing Day. The package is priced at $635 per person for the three nights, December 24, 25 and 26, and is based on double occupancy.
