Victoria's Hotel Grand Pacific Decks the Halls for the Holidays

From US Thanksgiving to New Year’s, property promises to delight young and old alike

There will be bright lights, bears and baubles this holiday season at the Hotel Grand Pacific. Along with playing host to the annual Bear Wear fundraiser, the property is again offering an array of events, special menus and packages for visitors and locals to celebrate the holidays right on Victoria’s twinkling Inner Harbour.

“We love being part of people’s holiday memories,” says Reid James, General Manager of the Hotel Grand Pacific. “Whether families are coming by to enjoy the Bear Wear display, or colleagues and friends are getting together to toast the season over a meal, we’re so honoured to be part of their celebrations and traditions.”

Kicking things off for American guests, The Pacific Restaurant will offer an American Thanksgiving menu on November 28 and 29. For $44 per adult and $19 per child (12 and under), guests will enjoy three seasonal courses with options including confit butternut squash & goat cheese salad, free-range turkey and pumpkin pie with Chantilly cream.

The Hotel Grand Pacific is proud to once again host the annual Bear Wear event, benefitting the Children’s Health Foundation of Vancouver Island. Running from November 26 through to January 2, 2014, a display of teddy bears dressed up in costumes will grace the hotel’s lobby, providing a family-friendly event for all. Entry is free, but for a suggested donation of $2, guests can enter a draw to win their favourite bear. Each bear is sponsored and dressed by a Victoria business or an individual donor; money raised is directed into programs at the Children’s Health Foundation to support children and youth in need and their families on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. More information about the event can be found at www.childrenshealthvi.org.

The Hotel Grand Pacific is also right in the middle of Victoria’s “Holiday Harbour Stroll,” a stretch of holiday lights, decorations and seasonal exhibitions down the south side of the city’s Inner Harbour from the Fairmont Empress to the Inn at Laurel Point, and including the new Robert Bateman Centre. Families can stop for a delicious hot chocolate and a sweet treat at the hotel’s Courtyard Café before continuing their way along the stroll.

Moving into December celebrations, the Pacific Restaurant will again offer its popular Christmas Lunch buffet – at just $29 per person, it’s perfect for a Christmas catch-up lunch with a friend, entertaining clients at the end of the year, or an indulgent meal before hitting Victoria’s shopping streets. Dishes includes both the classics and some modern twists - roasted turkey with double smoked bacon and apple dressing; tabouleh quinoa salad with almonds, olive oil, lemon and mint; and desserts including warm Christmas pudding, chocolate mousse and mincemeat tarts. The buffet is available weekdays from December 9 through 20 inclusive, from 12:00pm – 3:00pm.

The restaurant will also offer a Yuletide set menu on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, available to the public as well as hotel guests. Priced at $56 per person (exclusive of taxes and gratuity) diners will enjoy three courses, each with both traditional options and mouth-watering modern choices. On New Year’s Eve, restaurant guests can enjoy an exclusive five course tasting menu along with entertainment from Victoria’s own Kristina Helene later in the evening. Tickets for the evening are $65 per person.

Bookings for all seatings at The Pacific can be made online here, or by calling the restaurant at 250-380-4458.

For out-of-town guests looking to celebrate Christmas in Victoria, the hotel is also offering a deluxe three-night Christmas Package which covers everything from a Christmas Eve welcome reception and group dinner, through to a brunch buffet and three-course dinner on Christmas Day, as well as Boxing Day activities including a city tour of Victoria, the Christmas lights at Butchart Gardens, and a visit to the Royal BC Museum, and more. The package is priced at $670 per person for the three nights, December 24, 25 and 26, and is based on double occupancy. For more information, please visit the hotel’s website here.
