The Owners of the hotel wanted to incorporate Feng Shui or ‘wind and water’ into the design of the property due to their Chinese heritage.

The hotel’s landscape was designed to resemble the shape of the dragon which is a symbol representing protection, wisdom and strength. From an aerial perspective; the west wing represents the head, the east wing is the body of the dragon, the glass entrance is said to be the spine and the pond is the wing.

The hotel’s main entrance was designed to promote positive flow of energy (chi) by allowing the positive energy to stay within the space and not flow out of the back entrance. To do this, the main entrance on Belleville Street has two doors on either side of the lobby that don’t connect or face the Quebec Street entrance/exit

A topping off ceremony was performed by a Feng Shui master; nine coins, placed in a rectangle were used to align good energies.
